1.3.3   Manufacturer & Laboratory Compatibility Testing

Next, check with the manufacturer of the component. Request any documentation supporting performance claims in regard to the material compatibility of the component.

Generally, a manufacturer will have a component, or the materials from which a component is manufactured, tested for compatibility with various substances such as gasoline, diesel fuel, other petroleum products, or specific hazardous chemicals.

The manufacturer should be able to provide you with information pertaining to the organization that performed the testing and evaluation, and what standard or protocol was used for the evaluation.
