3. During this process the transfer operator should be sure to maintain alertness for possible ignition sources such as: other vehicles on site, people who may be smoking nearby, on-premise equipment that can generate a spark or heat such as heaters, machinery pumps, compressors, or other sources of flame or spark.
4. The transfer operator should also stop any traffic (e.g. people, vehicles, etc.), if present, from entering the area, and insist that any personnel with vehicles within the immediate area do not start engines.
