6.3   Qualified Inspectors

 

Whenever you perform inspections of equipment it is important that you use only properly trained and qualified personnel where it is applicable or required by this code or recommended in RP900.   For example, Class C operators can be trained to conduct visual inspections of tank sumps and spill containment buckets for the presence of water and/or debris.

 

However, performing a functional test of an electronic line leak detector can only be performed by a technician who has the proper training and certifications by both the equipment manufacturer and the Department of Commerce. RP900 provides relevant information that can help you identify and determine what the training and certification requirements should include for the various components of the UST system (refer to section 3.5).
