10.6   Tank Cleaning and Removal

 

There are specific requirements that must be followed when permanently closing a tank.  

 

The process begins with having the tank and piping emptied and cleaned by removing all liquids and any accumulated sludge.

 

The process of cleaning the tank and piping must follow the requirements of the American Petroleum Institute’s Recommended Practice, RP1604 - “Closure of Underground Petroleum Storage Tanks.”
