7.2   System Shut Down

When a Red Tag is issued you are no longer allowed to receive transfers of product into the UST system for which the Red Tag was issued until the violation has been corrected, and then reviewed and approved by the UST System Inspector.

The process of shut down for having received a Red Tag can last up to 30-days or more, depending upon the nature of the violation.   Consequently, maintaining compliance with the code requirements of Comm 10 is crucial to the non-interruption of your business operations.

Red Tags are typically issued only for repeat violations.   Normally, a written order will be issued instead of a Red Tag for a first violation where the UST system equipment has been installed correctly, but is not operating properly.   However, under certain conditions, or in some situations the UST System Inspector may immediately issue a Red Tag.
